                About The Show

“Niceties over, let’s set the scene. The time’s around 1964 – a year either side though it could be more. When the hems were high and the fringes low, and Saturday night meant the Club-a-Go-Go!

Photo of the BirdsThough it all takes place in the club of Eric ‘Rubber-legs’ De Vene, it could be any from around that time. Though they may have had a different name, the kids you’d find inside were all the same. With the music loud and the lights down low, any club could have been the Club-a-Go-Go.Photograph of Slice of Staurday Night Company

So we’d like to welcome you one and all to one of life’s great finishing schools. The breeding ground of the teenage dream; a microcosm of the teenage scene. Where the kids learnt all they had to know on a Saturday night, every Saturday night at the Club-a-Go-Go.”

This one-night-only, charity production of A Slice of Saturday Night was presented by Brilliant Productions, using cast members of the UK Tour of Les Miserables. It sold out well in advance – over 2,300 tickets – and raised over £30,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

Saturday Night Fever

The cast of Les Miserables are about to swap the slums of 19th Century France for the glam world of 1960s pop.

But the musical transformation is for one night only – and all for a good cause. Actors from the Empire Theatre’s triumphant production of Les Miserables are donning hipsters for a charity performance of the smash hit musical comedy A Slice of Saturday Night.

Based on the sounds of the swinging 60s, the West End version of the show starred Liverpool singer Sonia.

It follows the joys and sorrows of seven teenagers and a club bouncer. And there is a warning that the content is unsuitable for Under 15s.

We thought that the show was absolutely brilliant. There was a great atmosphere in the theatre helped by the cast begin strongly supported by fellow Les Mis peeps and families. We thought everyone in the show did a wonderful job. Please pass on our congratulations to all concerned and especially congratulations to you in your first role as producer – a truly professional job!
